SOUTH AFRICA based Zimbabwean businessman and music promoter Prosper Mkwaiwa is in a coma with severe injuries following a car accident on Sunday morning in Pretoria, South Africa.
Mkwaiwa was reportedly flung out of the car during the accident in which his Mercedes Benz AMG overturned.
He was admitted at Pretoria's Steve Biko Academic hospital.
His wife Tina, in tears and distraught, confirmed her husband's accident and hospitalisation to the Sowetan.
In low spirits she said the doctors informed her that Mkwaiwa had dislocated his jaw and also sustained severe head injuries.
"It's true, my husband was in an accident yesterday morning on his way home from a meeting. His condition is really bad. I can't see him right now because he is in theatre. I am traumatised, I could not identify him when I saw him lying in bed with tubes, I am confused, can't sleep and highly stressed. I don't know if he will be able to talk, or walk when he recovers. I am anxious," she said.
Tina said mishaps keep happening to the couple. Just three months ago she survived a car crash.
She said: "I don't know what is happening, we both have been in accidents now and it was the same thing with me."
"I have been working on my album and was going to launch it before the end of the year, but now I will have to concentrate on tenders and contracts as well as support him. My music is less important right now, I need my husband to survive and will make sure he gets all the help he needs," she said.
Mkwaiwa gained fame in South in year 2000 when he married actress Tina Jaxa in an extravagant wedding.
The couple soon became tabloid fodder with their many fights and their habit of airing their dirty laundry in public.
They went their separate ways after two children, child support drama and a protracted divorce.
Mkwaiwa married his current wife, singer Tina Dlangwana, in 2010.
In 2012, they were shot in their hotel room at Morula Sun in Mabopane by an intruder they claimed had followed Dlangwana into the room and tried to force them to have sex in front of him.
Sometime after the incident, Dlangwana accused Mkwaiwa of being behind the shooting, which he denied.
The two later reconciled.
