Zanu-PF Deputy Director of Information Mr Pyschology Maziwisa has been appointed the United Family International Church (UFIC) deputy spokesperson.
The appointment puts to rest speculation that former Deputy Minister of Information Bright Matonga had been offered the same post.
A senior UFIC church official confirmed that a high-profile meeting was convened last week where Prophet Makandiwa announced the appointment.
In a statement, Mr Maziwisa confirmed the appointment, adding that his new appointment will not interfere with his job at Zanu-PF.
"I am deeply and eternally grateful to my father Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa for this humbling appointment. For such trust and confidence to be bestowed upon me by a man of God of Prophet Makandiwa's magnitude means a lot and there is no word in the English language that could ever sufficiently capture my appreciation," read part of a statement compiled by Mr Maziwisa.
"Suffice to say I am greatly privileged to be given the opportunity to serve under the greatest prophet of our time and in furtherance of an incredibly uplifting ministry like the UFIC."
In the statement, Mr Maziwisa promised to execute his duties diligently and to lead an exemplary life.
"I promise to sincerely and with the utmost level of steadfastness discharge my responsibilities in line with the prophet's expectations. I look forward to using this rare chance to draw from the prophet's anointing and live a more godly life, filled with love, and consistent with the exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Makandiwa."
Another part of the statement read: "I can only repay this confidence and trust by dedicating the remaining days of my life to the service of God's ministry and leading as much of a sinless life as would please both my father and God."
Zanu-PF spokesperson Rugare Gumbo, who is Mr Maziwisa's boss at the party, says he sees nothing wrong with his appointment as this does not interfere with his job at Zanu-PF.
"Maziwisa has acquitted himself well in the media and shown himself to be a talented and gifted speaker. Obviously, anyone would want to work with him. I don't see anything wrong with Prophet Makandiwa asking him to take a more active role in the church," Gumbo said.
