Zanu PF has warned controversial MDC-T politician Job Sikhala against making treasonous statements that could easily get him in trouble with law enforcement agents.

Sikhala recently said he supported a faction within Zanu PF working on deposing President Mugabe saying the Zanu PF leader must be overthrown.

"Job Sikhala called for the overthrow of President Mugabe's government. This constitutes a prima facie crime, in particular the crime of treason which by definition is any attempt to overthrow a constitutionally elected government or its leader," said Zanu PF deputy director of information and publicity Psychology Maziwisa.

"Under normal circumstances, Job Sikhala should by now be helping police with investigations."

Maziwisa said Sikhala was being used by MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai to create instability.

"But everyone knows that Job Sikhala is not his own man. He is being used by Tsvangirai and certain external forces as a provocateur in order to get the government of President Mugabe to act against him and hopefully draw the attention of the world on Zimbabwe," said Maziwisa.

"All informed people know this. But while this might be the only thing saving Job Sikhala, he still needs to be warned not to cross the line by going beyond the point where enough is enough."
