Dokora blasted in Parliament

MP's yesterday lambasted Primary and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora for stopping payments of incentives to teachers and for his banning extra lessons in government schools.

Legislators across the political divide said the minister should lift his ban on extra lessons and allow affording parents to pay incentives to teachers.

Chikwinya said since Dokora's appointment as education minister last year, the minister has been making controversial policy announcements, some of which were detrimental to the education sector, resulting in demoralization of teachers.

Dokora banned extra lessons late last year claiming that he was cushioning hard pressed parents from unscrupulous school authorities that were demanding huge sums of money.
