A Police officer stationed at St Mary's Police Station in Chitungwiza is demanding $8 000 in adultery damages from his workmate whom he accused of engaging in an adulterous affair with his wife.

The complainant, Tonga Sande, filed the adultery claims at the Chitungwiza Civil Court on Monday saying his colleague Simbarashe Tayengwa, had an sexual intimacy with his wife, Sharon Vhera, on Heroes Day.

Sande filed his papers under case number 1038/14 through his lawyers, Mutsahuni Chikore and Partners.

Sande said he was customarily married to Vhera in the year 2000.

He said he was seeking damages for "the embarrassment, personal distress and loss of comfort" from his wife and from society as a result of the affair.

In addition to the $8 000, Sande says he wants Tayengwa to foot the legal bill.

Tayengwa is yet to file his plea to the summons.
