A Harare woman yesterday told the court that she would neither consent to advice to divorce nor accept a token of divorce from her husband because he infected her with HIV.
The woman disclosed this at the Harare Civil Court where she was summoned by her husband who claimed that she was breaching his peace.
The man told Harare Civil Court magistrate Ms Barbra Masinire that the woman was in the habit of causing violence each time she visits his workplace and home.
"This woman is very violent. I told her that our relationship was over but she is refusing to accept that. She is in the habit of coming to my workplace where she physically and verbally abuses me in front of my workmates," he said.
The woman denied the allegations and accused the man of dumping her after he infected her with HIV.
She said the man promised to marry her after he infected her with HIV.
"When he infected me with HIV he promised me in front of my relatives that he was going to take care of me as his wife," she said.
The woman added that it would be difficult to find another husband because of her HIV status and that was why she had decided to live with the man forever.
Ms Masinire deferred the matter to tomorrow for ruling.
