Safeguarding national interests and sovereignty have been cited as a fundamental attributes to policing and police education.

This came out at the graduation ceremony of 205 police recruits at Morris Depot in Harare this Thursday.

The Senior Minister of State, Simon Khaya Moyo also highlighted the need to fight corruption to ensure transparency in the economy.

"The police force needs to ensure the running of this country is safe and secure. It must also help fight corruption and ensure the successful implementation of the ZIMASSET economic blueprint," he said.

20 recruits were adjudged to be the best of the crop and were urged to emulate the best the force has to offer in terms of peace-keeping and policing.
