AN octogenarian from Marange left a Mutare courtroom in stitches when he declared that he was sexually active despite his advanced age.
Gibson Charuka (86) was dragged to court by his wife, Ennia Charuka (66), who could not stomach the persistent bashing she suffered at the hands of her hyper-active sexually active husband.
The couple appeared before Mr Makamera Waini on Wednesday, where Charuka said despite his advanced age, his wife should satisfy his sexual desires. He pleaded guilty to the assault charges.
"Your Worship, I know that I am old, but it is not like I ask her to sleep with me every day. It was only for that night. She should have just respected what I wanted as my wife, hence the reason I assaulted her," said Charuka.
Prosecuting, Mr Cuthbert Bosha said on the night of August 20, the couple retired to bed.
A dispute arose when Charuka demanded his conjugal rights, but his wife turned him down.
"Charuka would have none of Ennia's excuses and assaulted her all over the body. She sustained injuries in the process," said Mr Bosha.
In his ruling, Mr Waini said owing to his age, Charuka had found favour with the law therefore he should go home and live in peace with his wife.
