A BULAWAYO man demanded a refund for lobola after he bashed his wife, accusing her of being a prostitute and disrespectful.
George Sithole, 37, pleaded guilty to physical abuse and was ordered to pay a $100 fine or face 30 days imprisonment by Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube yesterday.
Prosecuting Keneth Shava said Sithole physically abused his wife Primrose Ndlovu, 36, with fists and kicked her on the head and face.
"Sithole beat his wife and she went to the hospital and a medical report can be produced as evidence," he said.
The court heard that on Friday last week at around 8PM, Sithole went to Ndlovu's home and accused her of being a prostitute.
He went on to accuse her of being disrespectful and demanded his money for lobola claiming he wasted his money on her.
Ndlovu sustained visible injuries.
Sithole pleaded guilty and told the court that he committed the offence when he was angry.
"Your Worship, I did not mean to hurt my wife. I committed this offence out of anger. I could not control myself. May the court have mercy on me. I will never do it again," said Sithole.
