A bogus Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) officer was arrested at Charge Office Bus Terminus last weekend.
Courage Zaranyika is alleged to have been in the business of threatening people with a gun and fake CIO identity card.
Magistrate Rekina Dzikiti set the matter to September 17 for trial and ordered Zaranyika to pay $50 bail.
On September 4, detectives from CID Homicide received information that Zaranyika was moving around with a firearm which he used to threaten people with.
He is alleged to have also been in possession of a government identity card which he used to gain entry into government institutions while posing as a member of the secret State security.
Prosecutor Venencia Mutake told the court that when Zaranyika was arrested at the Charge Office Bus Terminus, a pistol was found hidden on his waist while the identity card was in his wallet.
When quizzed by detectives, Zaranyika allegedly lied that he was a genuine member of the secret service and that the pistol he had was his service gun.
Verifications were made with the CIO, which confirmed that Zaranyika was not a member of the organisation.
