MDC's Deputy Secretary for Media, Information and Publicity,
Kurauone Chihwayi said MDC is disturbed that the government has failed
to employ or remove from bonding the nurses that completed their
training last year.
"We are disturbed that these skilled and dedicated sons and daughters of our country have been rendered redundant by the state that has violated its obligation to give them employment while our hospitals remain understaffed compromising our health delivery system."
Chihwayi said MDC emains married to the interest of the workers and the party is concerned that the government can shamelessly practice modern day slavery by holding at ransom its children, MDC believe that it would be correct for the state to either employ the nurses or remove them from bonding as it has failed in its obligation to give the nurses jobs for a year.
"We painfully note that this wasted year has severely compromised these graduates livelihood and we are not blind of the fact that it could also be a third of their bonding period," said Chihwayi.
As a party that is committed to a just and a fair Zimbabwe Chihwayi said they [MDC] believe it is unfair and unjust for the government to enslave its loyal sons and daughters who are ready to serve their country. MDC therefore call upon the government to be sensitive to the plight of our children.
