Russian Foreign Minister arrives in Zimbabwe

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Harare to cement the relationship with Zimbabwe after the signing of trade and investment agreements.
Mr Lavrov is leading a high powered business delegation which was received by Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and senior government officials.
The Russians are interested in infrastructure development, mining, energy and agriculture among other sectors.
A number of deals are expected to be sealed during the three day visit by the delegation.
The visit comes as Zimbabwe and Russia signed trade and investment agreements which are expected to see increased inflow of investment into Zimbabwe in all sectors of the economy.
A Memorandum of Understanding between Russia and Zimbabwe were signed during the first session of the Zimbabwe-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Economic Trade and Technical Cooperation.
Under the agreement, the Russian engineering firm will supply mining equipment to the Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation.
The agreements are expected to increase trade volumes between the two countries with tangible projects set to transform the country's economy.
Zimbabwe and Russia enjoy good political relations and Mr. Lavrov's visit is expected to deepen economic cooperation in all sectors of the economy.
