Chinamasa should quit, says MDC-T

MDC-T MPs on Wednesday called on Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa to quit after he bungled procedures when he presented his mid-term fiscal policy review statement, forcing Parliament to suspend a raft of tax measures he introduced.
The opposition party's MDC-T MP for Mabvuku-Tafara, James Maridadi, told Chinamasa that he was taking Zimbabweans for granted after Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda temporarily suspended taxes introduced last week.
The speaker said Chinamasa failed to adhere to procedures.
Chinamasa apologised for the mistake and pleaded with MPs to allow him to bring his supplementary budget.
But Maridadi would have none of that. Although his apology was accepted and the motion was introduced thereafter, Kuwadzana MP, Nelson Chamisa, had no kind words for the minister.
"Mr Speaker sir, the honourable minister is a learned lawyer who understands the law and knows the procedure, we cannot be taken for a ride like this as the house, we demand seriousness from the executive," he said.
