19-YEAR-OLD Gabriel Rupapa, who tried to hang himself near the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo on Wednesday, was on Thursday taken back home by his father.
He is believed to be the son of a senior prison officer in Kwekwe and was spotted hanging from a tree near the road by a truck driver who was buying a mobile phone recharge card shortly after 2PM.
United Bulawayo Hospital officials told Chronicle that Rupapa had been taken by his father, Langton Rupapa, just before 1PM.
A senior nurse, who requested anonymity for professional reasons, said Rupapa seemed like a troubled young man.
Langton Rupapa's wife on Wednesday said she did not know of a Gabriel and that her husband received a call but left without giving any reasons.
