The WFP has budgeted $24.2 million for food and cash distributions and so far.
WFP has received a valuable contribution from the United States Agency for International Aid worth $6 million and is appealing to resource partners for additional support in order to fully implement activities.
According to the 2014 Zimbabwe Vulnerability Assessment Committee report, food availability has improved this year over last year.
Only 564 559 people in rural areas have been identified as being in need of food assistance at the peak of the coming lean season early next year from figures of well over 2 million last year.
