Government has provided lighting equipment to scare away wild animals at the toll gate after Hwange towards Victoria Falls.
Transport and Infrastructural Development deputy minister Petronella Kagonye said they were prioritising completion of the toll plaza in the area.
"My Ministry is also aware of the dangers from wild animals that is faced by the officers manning the Hwange tollgate as well as the adverse weather conditions that they are exposed to," said Kagonye.
"It is because of the prevailing conditions that we decided to prioritise the construction of this particular
tollgate."
Kagonye added that the designs for the state of the art structure for the tollgate were being finalised.
"Once the designs are approved, the construction will then be awarded to a contractor who will then embark on the construction of the structures that will protect our officers from the dangers that they are currently facing," said Kagonye.
"In the meantime, lighting has been provided at the tollgate to alleviate the situation."
Transport and Infrastructural Development minister Obert Mpofu recently said government was embarrassed by exposing employees to attacks from wild animals.
