Man kills senior citizen, steals salt-shaker

A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Nyika village under Chief Nhema in Shurugwi allegedly killed an 85-year-old man during an armed robbery.
The accused, Tonic Mangoma, was found in possession of the deceased's belongings the court heard on Wednesday.
Mangoma allegedly attacked Msoreka Mavengano Bushe with an axe and iron bar killing him instantly.
According to Southern Eye, the court heard that Mangoma searched Bushe's house and took several items that he hid in a nearby cave.
It is alleged that on the night of September 22 2013, Mangoma went to Bushe's homestead and found him alone having supper.
Mangoma apparently attacked Bushe with an axe and iron bar on the left leg, head and face, rkilling him instantly.
After killing Bushe, Mangoma searched his house and took clothing items, which he proceeded to hide in a nearby cave.
The State further alleged that Mangoma sold one of the deceased's jackets to Rodgers Chibike from whom the coat was recovered. A salt- shaker was also recovered in Mangoma's possession.
Mangoma was arrested and then led the cops to the cave where the other property was discovered.
Bushe's body was discovered by a neighbour, Itayi Melusi the following morning in a pool of blood in front of the kitchen hut.
Melusi, who used to work for Bushe as a herd boy, made a report to the police.
