300,000 homes to be built across Zimbabwe

The Minister of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Dr Ignatius Chombo, has revealed the national housing delivery strategy, looking to build 300,000 homes by 2018.
The aim is to ease the accommodation backlog in the country and stop illegal settlements and slums.
Dr Chombo said they are looking at the construction of 105 935 housing units in Harare, 15 100 in Bulawayo, 28 772 in Matabeleland North, 21 830 in Manicaland, 28 269 in Masvingo, with the remainder in the remaining provinces.
The government has been urged to come up with a well-regulated framework that includes financial institutions.
