Maid withdraws rape charges against boss

A Harare engineer who was arrested on Thursday by police for allegedly raping a house maid has been set free after the complainant withdrew the charges.

Engineer Martin Manhuwa was released after the complainant withdrew charges at the Harare Magistrate's Court.

Manhuwa was arrested at Shashi Flats in Mabelreign on Thursday morning after the complainant reported the matter to the police.

It is alleged that Manhuwa found the complainant in the bathroom half undresseed and allegedly raped her.

According to some neighbours at the flats, the complainant is alleged to have locked Manhuwa inside the house before rushing to make a police report leading to the arrest.

He was detained overnight at Mabelreign Police Station.
