In a new move that may curb the increase in armed robberies in Zimbabwe, it seems the Zimbabwean Police have adopted a shoot to kill policy in an effort to put to rest the possible upcoming robbery activities.

So called "Armed Robbers" have been facing the music, following the shoot to kill policy even though it has not been officially announced.

Pictures of the armed robbers who were shot dead, and also displayed like trophies at both the scenes of crime and sometimes displayed at the police stations, before being finger print verified have been doing rounds on the internet.

Some of these images can may be inappropriate for readers of a nervous disposition as they are showing the corpses of the alleged perpetrators of armed robberies.

Police Commissioner-General, Augustine Chihuri was last quoted breathing fire saying that the police would ensure a "short life for armed robbers"

"Let me warn people who harbour criminals that the long arm of the law will catch up with them," Chihuri was addressing a memorial service for the late slain, Lawrence Chatikobo, a police Officer killed in a pub bloodbath in Bulawayo, last year, at Cape to Cairo restaurant.

Not to be outdone, Army commander, Constantine Chiwenga weighed in with his own threats saying the Army and the Police would work together to thwart the growing menace of so called armed robbers.

The death of Chatikobo who was the officer commanding police Serious Fraud Section in Bulawayo, came six months after the death of another senior detective Joseph Maximus in almost similar circumstances.

Chatikobo was shot when he tried to challenge suspected armed robbers who were raiding Cape to Cairo pub and restaurant in the city centre. Efforts to get a comment from the Police press and liaison office were fruitless by the time of going to press as they were evasive.
