Chamisa wins MDC-T secretary-general nomination

Rejecting withering criticism of the ongoing opposition nomination process, the leading MDC secretary-general candidate Nelson Chamisa yesterday said there was no reason to doubt he had been fairly elected.

Chamisa dismissed a scathing report by the State media that MDC nominations were not credible because of vote buying and unrealistically high percentages of votes for the on-going organising secretary who is squaring off with Douglas Mwonzora and Tapiwa Mashakada.

He calmly brushed off reports that he had been barred from running the election by the standing committee to avert ballot fraud.

He said the election was not run by him but by a panel comprising ZCTU members, youths and church organisations.
