Man fatally stabbed over $3

A HARARE a man was last month stabbed to death by a colleague following a row over $3, the Herald reported today.
The assailant Christopher Funganjera last week appeared before a Harare court facing charges of murdering Stephen Chikanda over $3.
According to the State case, Funganjera of No. 4260-16th Road Glen View 3, stabbed Chikanda on September 29 this year following an altercation over cash which he owed the deceased for a piece job they had done together.
According to reports, the two had left their workplace together when a fight emerged between them over the debt. It is alleged that the pair proceeded to Fungajena's residence where they started drinking beer.
The court heard that around 10.30pm Chikanda decided to go home and Funganjera offered to take him halfway.
Along the way the altercation over money resumed and Funganjera was not amused, the court heard.
Funganjera drew a knife and stabbed Chikanda several times in the chest.
It is alleged that Chikanda fell down and Funganjera left him by the roadside for dead.
Chikanda's body was discovered one hour later lying along 19th Street Glen View 3.
The following morning police officers who attended the scene discovered a trail of blood which led to Funganjera's home.
Police officers also discovered the knife used in the murder next to the body and the deceased had stab wounds on the left side of the chest, the court heard.
The police proceeded to Funganjera's home where they found a white jacket with blood stains in the inner right arm.
Upon his arrest Funganjera had fresh lacerations on the back of his neck and scratches on the right side of his neck which he failed to explain.
Funganjera voluntarily led the police to his home where a blood-stained pair of brown shorts and blue T-shirt he was wearing when he allegedly committed the offence were discovered in a dry well.
It is alleged that Fungajera made indications to the police demonstrating how he killed his workmate.
Chikanda's body is still at Harare Hospital mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.
