Zimbabwe told to introduce sanctions busting measures

Government has been told to come up with sanctions busting measures instead of hiding behind sanctions for a non-performing economy.

Prosper Chitambara an economist with the Labour Economic Development Research Institute of Zimbabwe said sanctions did not prevent government from investing.

He said government must come up with sanctions busting measures like what Ian Smith did during the period of the Unilateral Declaration of Independence in Rhodesia than trying to hide behind them.

Chitambara said ZimAsset would not succeed in turning the economy if there was no change of mindset.

He said the policy would not yield desired results because it is not owned by key partners, stakeholders, citizens, businesses and workers.
