Rogue cop speeds through roadblock drums

A ROGUE police officer based in Gokwe landed himself in trouble after he was arrested for refusing to stop at a roadblock resulting in him hitting drums and sending traffic cops scurrying for cover.

27-year old Willard Chikwangwani reportedly caused havoc at a roadblock in Gokwe. The officers who escaped death by a whisker immediately took to their parked van and chased the accused resulting in his arrest.

The Court heard that Chikwangwani was driving a Nissan Ferena at a road near Kambasha Business Centre when he was instructed to stop by traffic cops manning a roadblock and refused to stop.

The 'mad' police officer reportedly hit the drums which were part of the roadblock barrier and sped off as if nothing happened.  The cops at the roadblock then chased after him and discovered that he was driving at 120km/hr against the recommended speed of 60km/hr.

He pleaded guilty before a Gokwe Court and heaved a sigh of relief when he was given a fine of $400 in place of a four month custodial sentence. He begged the Court to pardon him since he was a first offender.
