Mnangagwa to meet SA party

Executive members of the South Africa-based Zimbabwe Star Party will this week meet Emmerson Mnangagwa, who they say should succeed President Robert Mugabe.
The party was launched earlier this year by accommodations consultant Richard Gwarazimba and some students. The secretary general Jephias Chivange said they hoped Mnangagwa would welcome them and they had communicated with his office.
He claimed the party' support base was spreading "like veld fire". Last Sunday, he said, the party convened a rally in Johannesburg attended by over 500 people - "a good attendance for a start".
Gwarazimba said following the recent attack by intruders at one of their meetings, the party had become stronger and more determined to achieve its objectives. Another rally is planned for October 18, followed by a meeting with President Robert Mugabe.
Mnangagwa could not be reached for comment.
