A cabinet minister, Francis Nhema has called on all educated Zimbabweans to play a leading role in spearheading development at their former schools to help develop the local education system.

Nhema said this during the prize giving ceremony at his former school, St Werburghs Primary School which also coincided with the unveiling of development programmes.

"There is need to forge a strong collaboration in the education system if the country is to remain the leader in terms of sound education. The government established education facilities across the country, so communities and former students have a role to transform the state of infrastructure and other developmental programmes," he said.

St Werburgh Primary School headmistress, Mrs Veronica Nyoni said since 1893, the school has undergone major infrastructural transformation with a lot of positives registered.

Former students, led by Minister Nhema and CBZ Managing Director, Mr Peter Zimunya, donated $2000 towards the purchase of computers at the school.

The school, with an enrolment of more than 900 students, requires more houses for teachers and a new computerised library.
