'Bogus' CIO faces robbery, rape charges

A 34-YEAR-OLD Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) impostor, Shakespear Chizengwe, is today expected to appear at the Harare Magistrates' Court where he is facing several charges involving robbery, theft, extortion, impersonation, assault and rape.
Chizengwe pleaded not guilty to all the eight counts of different offences when he initially appeared before regional magistrate Adonia Masawi last week and was remanded in custody after only two complainants testified in the matter.
The court heard that in July this year, Chizengwe approached an 18-year-old girl as she withdrew cash from CBZ Bank Karigamombe branch in Harare.
It is alleged Chizengwe followed the girl after which he accused her of having assaulted his child and led the girl to a bushy area between Rekayi Tangwena Avenue and Bishop Gaul Road in Belvedere, where he raped and robbed her of $119, which was part of the money she had withdrawn from the bank.
