Woman bashed for demanding a debt

CHITUNGWIZA woman was bashed and fainted while claiming a debt from a trader.

Blessing Mungate was reportedly slapped before being shoved to the ground by one Gift Vharisu while demanding her money.

Vharisu has since appeared in court answering to allegations of assault.

He was convicted of the offence before Chitungwiza magistrate Lazarus Murendo and was slapped with $200 fine.

Failure to pay the fine attracts two months imprisonment.

 It is said on September 24 around 4pm, the complainant went to the accused's workplace where he was tying his straw brooms.

She reportedly confronted him about the money he owed her and he said he did not have the money.

The court heard that while they were talking, the accused then began assaulting the woman, slapping before pushing her to the ground that she lost consciousness. A report was made with the police leading to the arrest of Vharisu.
