A couple has gone their separate ways after they failed to agree on the number of kids they want.

Kennedy Kurowo told the court that he wanted more children but his wife Nozipo Mashonge didn't resulting in the collapse of their marriage.

The matter was heard at the Harare civil court where Nozipo was claiming $100 per month as maintenance for their minor child.

"I wanted more kids and she didn't want so that really strained our marriage and that is the reason why we are not together," said Kennedy.

He went on to tell the court that he was not in a position to pay the money that Nozipo was claiming from him.

"Honestly, the money that she wants is just too much for me; I can't afford paying the money.

"I can sacrifice to pay $40 per month as maintenance for the child," he said.

Nozipo said the amount that she was claiming was equivalent with the expenses that she wanted to pay in looking after the child.

Magistrate Barbara Masinire ordered Kennedy to pay $50 per month as maintenance for the child.
