ZAPU leader Dumiso Dabengwa believes that the only Zapu that exists is the one that pulled out of the Unity Accord when he left the ruling party in 2008.
The former Zipra intelligence supremo said he was surprised that some ex-Zipra members in Zanu PF were still convinced that they were Zapu members yet they were fully-fledged Zanu PF members.
He warned that they should desist calling themselves former Zapu.
"Zapu members who remained in Zanu PF are now fully Zanu PF," he said.
"The only Zapu that exists is the one that pulled out of the Unity Accord," Dabengwa told Southern Eye yesterday.
Dabengwa's remarks come in the wake of the open warfare that has erupted in the party ahead of the December elective congress.
Some former PF Zapu members- now in Zanu PF have sought to ride on Zapu to be endorsed for the party's vice president post which was left vacant by the death of John Landa Nkomo.
According to the Unity Accord, the post is reserved for Zapu members but they are hints that Zanu pf might not be forced to renege on the agreement as a result of a number of issues bedeviling the ruling party including factionalism which is currently President Mugabe's biggest headache.
