Mugabe breaks silence on Zanu-PF infighting

President Robert Mugabe has finally broken the silence on Zanu-PF's internal fights, saying internal wars that are being caused by some people who are abusing their positions to further their personal interests must not be tolerated.
Speaking during a luncheon to mark the official opening of the second session of the 8th Parliament of Zimbabwe this Tuesday, Mugabe castigated some party members who are neglecting their duties to concentrate on causing divisions ahead of the December elective congress.
He said Zanu-PF is a solid party and all the bickering that have been going on will be dealt with at the forthcoming congress.
He implored party members to unite and stop fighting each other, adding that those in the party who are working to succeed him should stop as he is still l around.
Mugabe paid tribute to legislators for putting aside their political affiliations and demonstrating unity of purpose on national issues.
On incompetent cabinet ministers, Mugabe said he is fed up with those who are good at talking yet fail to deliver.
Turning to the opposition, he said it is unfortunate that after losing the July 31, 2013 elections, they have not only refused to recognise the new government, but created a barrier making it impossible to engage them on national issues.
On the economic front, President Mugabe said Zimbabwe is now getting more support from the international community including countries which imposed sanctions at the turn of the millennium.
As per tradition, the luncheon was hosted by the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing and attracted stakeholders from central and local government, business, private sector, as well as traditional leaders.
