Mugabe promises to compensate pensioners

The welfare of pensioners and ordinary people who were prejudiced when the country abandoned the Zim dollar in 2009 for multiple currency will be under the spotlight when government launches a commission of inquiry into the issue, President Robert Mugabe has said.

Mugabe said the commission of inquiry would establish methods used to convert pension and insurance policy values from the Zimbabwean to United States dollars.

He said the findings of the commission and recommendations thereof should assist in restoring public confidence in the local pensions and insurance industry.
