Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration, Dydimus Mutasa was booed by war veterans that had converged at the Zanu-PF headquarters during a Politburo meeting before he began his bid to address them.
The skirmishes occurred just before President Mugabe began his addressing party supporting wielding placards denouncing war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda and vice president Joice 'Teurai Ropa' Mujuru.
Those who were booing were apparently showing their allegiance to President Mugabe - whom they said could not be toppled by 'small' power brokers within the party.
When Mutasa took to the podium he faced resistance from party supporters who jeered at him until Chinotimba intervened saying "order kana vakuru vachitaura, nyararai" (be orderly when elders speak)
Mutasa went on to say "Handiite pasi negamatox yamunondimanikidza, hamundimanikidzwe" (I will never chant the Gamatox slogan that your pressuring me to chant) before leaving the podium.
When Mugabe took to the podium he expressed ignorance over the slogan "Pasi neGamatox" which has fuelled hate speech and division in his Zanu-PF party.
Mugabe strongly castigated party officials for scrambling for positions saying it "in Zanu-PF we don't fight for positions."
"Our party is a revolutionary party; it was formed by many leaders who have died. I am one of them we didn't form the party for ourselves but for the people. We didn't have that culture of fighting for positions ever since," Mugabe told his followers today.
