Thousands demand Mujuru's resignation

Scores of Zanu-PF supporters yesterday tightened the screws on Vice-President Joice Mujuru and her perceived allies, demanding that she resigns with immediate effect.

Taking advantage of a crunch politburo meeting that was meant to discuss, among other issues, Mujuru's shaky position in the party following startling revelations of corruption and abuse of First Lady Grace Mugabe, thousands descended on Zanu-PF headquarters in the capital baying for the VP's head.

The crowd, which labelled Mujuru a witch from Dotito demanded that she and war veterans leader Jabulani Sibanda among a host of top leaders should resign now. Addressing the crowd, President Robert Mugabe urged them to defend the party.
