Voting is underway at the MDC-T congress in Harare with the contest for the controversial secretary general's post pitting Nelson Chamisa and Douglas Mwonzora providing the climax of the moment.
The ZBC was initially barred from covering Friday's opening proceedings but was finally allowed to witness the process where the party members were casting their votes at the City Sports Centre.
Although no official word was given by the party on how the proceedings are going, it is understood that the Chamisa - Mwonzora battle has become ugly with allegations of vote buying and attempts to manipulate the outcome in either candidate's favour.
Tsvangirai, who is reportedly not comfortable with Chamisa ascending to the post of secretary general, is said to be supporting Mwonzora who he views as a lesser threat, delegates told the ZBC News off camera.
Still trying to recover from the breakaway by the Biti faction, when the former secretary general sought to challenge the MDC-T leader at the congress, Tsvangirai is said to be very worried if Chamisa takes the post as he is said to be very ambitious and could topple him.
Tsvangirai is unchallenged.
Theresa Makone is up against Tapiwa Mashakada for the treasurer-general's post.
Lovemore Moyo is set to be retained as chairperson, as he is unchallenged.
Former labour minister Paurina Mpariwa is reportedly eyeing the women assembly chair and information suggests she will retain the post also unopposed.
Chalton Hwende is contesting against Bernard Chiondegwa for the post of deputy treasurer general.
