The Zanu-PF Mashonaland East province has expressed confidence in the provincial leadership led by Ray Kaukonde ahead of the 6th national people's congress which starts on the 2nd of December in Harare.
ZBC News reported that this emerged during a special provincial coordinating meeting held at the party's provincial headquarters in Marondera whose main agenda was to prepare for the coming congress.
The motion was moved by Central Committee member and Marondera West legislator Retired Brigadier General Ambrose Mutinhiri and was seconded by Mutoko South National Assembly member David Chapfika.
Zanu-PF Secretary for Security in the Politburo, who is also the chairperson of the provincial congress preparations committee, Dr Sydney Sekeramayi said Mashonaland East is fully behind President Robert Mugabe and the nomination of the First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe as the women's league secretary.
Recently both Grace Mugabe and her husband President Robert Mugabe accused Kaukonde for sponsoring factionalism and causing mayhem during Grace's rally in Marondera. It was largely thought that his provincial executive would pass a vote of no confidence as a result.
The meeting also came up with committees to prepare for the congress.
