The Zanu PF Midlands Provincial Chairman, Jason Machaya has been booted out of the executive committee for allegedly fanning factionalism and divisions in the province, among a host of other reasons.
Machaya was given a unanimous vote of no confidence by 44 provincial executive members at a Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting held at the party's convention centre in Gweru.
Cornilious Mupereri, the Provincial Secretary for Information and Publicity, moved the motion which was seconded by the Youth League Provincial Vice Chairman, Prosper Machando.
It is said Machaya who chaired the meeting to its end, before he was dismissed, accepted the no confidence vote and before collecting his belongings expressed his gratitude to the executive for their support during his term in office and walked out of the meeting.
In an interview with ZBC, Machaya said he accepts the decision if it is meant to move the nation and the party forward, saying he now awaits the decision of the Politburo.
His deputy, Kizito Chivamba immediately stepped in as the Acting Provincial Chairman.
Mupereri said the executive passed a vote of no confidence against Machaya on several allegations, among them, failure to convene meetings, fanning factionalism and divisions in the province.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF Politburo member, Cephas Msipa and party's National Secretary for Information and Publicity,Rugare Gumbo have questioned the criteria used to pass a vote of no confidence against Machaya.
