Zanu-PF Secretary for Information and Publicity, Rugare Gumbo says the forthcoming Zanu-PF congress should focus on the issue of succession.
Gumbo was speaking on ZBC's Media Watch programme on Monday.
He said that the congress should come up with a way of implementing succession and that those who aspire for higher office should be voted for by the people.
Gumbo has receive a stick from zanu-PF analysts who accuse him of planning to remove Robert Mugabe from office at the forthcoming Zanu-PF national congress in December.
They claim that Gumbo is at odds with all party structures, which include the Women's League, war veterans, Youth League and all the provinces who have endorsed President Mugabe for the position of President and First Secretary of the party.
The analysts said there cannot be talk of succession at a time Mugabe has not only been endorsed by his party Zanu-PF, but by the electorate as he is just into the second year of his five year term in office as president of Zimbabwe.
Gumbo's succession aspirations come at a time all structures of Zanu-PF have endorsed Mugabe as President and First Secretary of the party, throwing away any debate on succession.
