The war veterans will elect members for the eight posts on Sunday.

Speaking at the congress, local traditional leader, Chief Mugabe said this is a good development.

Another war veterans' member, Brigadier General Engelbert Rugeje said for the past 11 years war veterans have been short-changed by the Jabulani Sibanda administration as they have not held a congress.

He commended their patron, President Robert Mugabe who gave a directive for the holding of the congress which is underway.
