Political analysts have called for the immediate dismissal of Presidential Affairs Minister, Didymus Mutasa whose loyalty to President Robert Mugabe has been questioned following accusations of treasonous and devious conduct, the state media reported on Monday.

The veteran politician is accused of playing a part in the plot to oust President Mugabe and has been challenged to do the honorary thing and step down.

Political analysts say Mutasa, who is also the Zanu PF Secretary for Administration, should not be allowed to continue holding the two influential posts given his recent questionable conduct.

Mr Alexander Rusero urged President Mugabe to exercise his power and oust the disloyal politician who can no longer be trusted with the two powerful positions.

Apart from the allegations of plotting to topple President Mugabe, Mutasa has come under fire for taking part in the unsanctioned meeting in Manicaland Province where former war veterans leader, Jabulani Sibanda attacked the First Family.

Analysts argue that Mutasa should have reprimanded Sibanda but surprisingly, all he could do was to sit down and cheer him on.

Another political analyst and new war veterans leader, Christopher Mutsvangwa urged Mutasa to step down, saying he does not deserve to be a minister in a government he is plotting to dislodge.

Some analysts have also argued that if Manicaland Provincial Chairperson, John Shumba Mvundura was ousted for attending an unsanctioned reburial event, Mutasa who was the most senior party and government official at the same function, should also have been fired.
