PRESIDENT Mugabe has been given powers by the politburo to appoint the two vice-presidents and the national chairperson to assist him in running the party, a senior Politburo member has said ending the fierce for the coveted posts in the embattled ruling party.

Some of the top VP hopefuls are Simon Khaya Moyo, Emmerson Mnangagwa, Joice Mujuru, Didymus Mutasa and Constantine Chiwenga.

Addressing members of the Cross Border Traders' Association of Zimbabwe and small to medium entrepreneurs who converged at First Lady Grace Mugabe's Children's Home in Mazowe yesterday, Josiah Hungwe revealed that President Mugabe was the only one who will be voted and that others would be appointed by him.

"There is no one who is going to be voted into office except the President who should then appoint the people he wants to work with," said Hungwe.

Hungwe said even the media was fond of saying that the forthcoming National People's Congress was an elective congress, but the truth was that only President Mugabe will be elected.

"They're saying we'll vote for each other at the congress, since when? Ask Muchinguri, it was agreed that only the President will be voted for and then he appoints those he wants to work with," he said.
