42 Pharmacy Technicians graduate

Harare - A total of 42 students on Friday graduated with diplomas at a ceremony held at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals after successful completion of a three year Pharmacy Technicians training course.
In the speech read on his behalf by the director of Pharmacy Services Mrs Ropafadzo Hove, Health and Child Care Minister Dr. David Parirenyatwa challenged graduands to use available resources in a cost effective manner to benefit of the patients and the country at large. "Zimbabwe as a developing country with scarce resources relies heavily on an efficient medicines supply management system and the rational use of medicines.
"Going forward therefore, institutional structures and systems will be strengthened through the establishment of a Result Based Government that seeks to optimize utilization of scarce resources allocated'" she said.
Dr. Parirenyatwa said that Zimbabwe's economic blue print (ZimAsset) was focusing on improving services delivery and national development. "ZimAsset program clearly spells out the urgency in filling all vacant posts and improving the conditions of services for all health care workers," she said.
He said the country was faced with a challenge to manage HIV and AIDS, malaria, TB which are the major causes of mobility and mortality in the region.
"Zimbabwe like other countries in the region is faced with managing the public health impact of HIV and AIDS, malaria, and TB which is are the major causes of morbidity and mortality in the region," said Dr Parirenyatwa.
The graduates acquired knowledge on aspects of drugs and medicines, such as drug preparation and supply chain management among others.
