Comedian Carl Joshua Ncube has accused fellow award-winning jester Edgar Langeveldt of sexually assaulting his wife, Nelsy.
Ncube, whose relationship with the feisty Langeveldt has been frosty for years, claimed on Facebook that he nearly beat up "the miscreant of comic society."
"I am sure by tomorrow you would have found out that I almost beat the **** (sic) out of Langeveldt, this is true and I apologise," he wrote.
"I have been silent about direct assaults made on my person by Edgar in the Zimbabwean comedy fraternity in the last four years. I will be brief about this - Langevedlt sexually assaulted my wife for the second time in three years. I regret not retaliating accordingly like any reasonable man would."
I apologise for my behaviour tonight but my priority is to defend my wife's honour ahead of my need to seek approval from people. Edgar, you do this again...I promise I will beat the **** (sic) out of the 20 people holding me back tonight just to get to you," he said.
When the Daily News contacted Ncube yesterday, he stood by his Facebook posts and revealed that this was not the first time Langeveldt had sexually assaulted his wife.
"He was pushing my buttons all night, then decided to go for my wife, opening his zip and advancing towards her when I reacted. Last time he force-kissed her but I kept quiet about it," he said.
The award-winning comedian said it was up to his wife to decide whether to press charges or not.
"It is up to my wife, I will stand by her decision. Right now I just want to remain positive and be the husband I promised to be to my wife," he said.
The Daily News could not get a comment from Nelsy but a post on her Facebook page confirmed the Book Café incident. "Feeling violated for the second time in my life," she said.
Langeveldt could not be reached for comment while the owners of the Book Café where the incident took place said they would only comment once they established what exactly transpired.
