POLICE have arrested a Sino-Zimbabwe manager after he allegedly raped a security guard he had hired to work at his house before threatening to shoot her family members if she disclosed the matter.

Farai Maseka (39), general manager (loss control), was not formally charged when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Daniel Shonhiwa who remanded him out of custody to August 2 on US$100 bail.

Maseka who was represented by Mr Norman Mugiya was also ordered to report every Friday at Borrowdale Police Station and not to interfere with State witnesses.

The complainant in the matter is a 19-year-old woman employed in the Sino-Zimbabwe loss control department as a security guard.

Prosecutor Ms Fadzai Kuipa, alleges that sometime in April this year Maseka deployed the woman to work at his house in Borrowdale.

Maseka, it is alleged, invited the woman to one of his bedrooms.

While in the bedroom, Maseka drew nearer to the complainant and grabbed her by the waist and allegedly started to fondle her.

The complainant resisted and Maseka allegedly pushed her to his bed and raped her once.

After raping her, it is alleged, Maseka showed the complainant a gun and threatened to kill her and her family members if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

The complainant did not report the matter to anyone fearing for her family's safety until on July 14 when she revealed the matter to Sino-Zimbabwe's deputy general manager who advised the board.

The board, it is alleged, resolved that the complainant make a report to the police. The complainant made the report leading to Maseka's arrest.
