'Tsvangirai is better than ousted Zanu PF leaders'

HARARE - Zanu PF provincial youth league, Godfrey Gomwe yesterday claimed that fierce opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was far much better than ousted Zanu PF leaders linked to a plot to unseat President Mugabe.
Gomwe touted Tsvangirai as a 'better' leader compared to Mugabe assignation suspects although the former premier has been the ruling Zanu PF party's number one opposition enemy since 2000.
"Tsvangirai is better than the so-called Zanu-PF cadres who wine and dine with President Mugabe while plotting his ouster," Gomwe claimed.
Zanu-PF senior members, who include suspended former party spokesperson, Rugare Gumbo, Labour and Social Welfare minister, Nicholas Goche, and secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa are among other officials facing accusations of plotting to eliminate President Mugabe from office through unorthodox means.
Gomwe declared that youths will bar Vice-President Joice Mujuru - who has been accused of plotting to assassinate President Robert Mugabe - from attending the party's congress scheduled for next week.
Gomwe Thursday said the Zanu-PF constitution stipulated that youths were the party's vanguard hence they should play their part in defending the interests of President Mugabe and the party at large.
"As we prepare for congress which is being hosted by our province next week, we are encouraging youths in Harare to rally behind the president and the First Lady Grace Mugabe," Gomwe said.
"Those who have been accused of plotting to kill our president will not be allowed to attend or be part of the proceedings at the congress," he said.
Zanu PF youths have in the past used to unleash violence on opposition leaders but with current infighting within the ruling party, it is feared that youths will be used, at the Congress scheduled for next week, to unleash violence at those perceived to be anti-Mugabe.
