Another Mujuru daughter in truck scandal

A Harare woman claims she has lost her truck in a botched deal which sucked in Rumbidzai, the daughter of Vice President Dr Joice Mujuru.
The woman claims she has not received any joy from the police.
It is alleged that Rumbidzai fraudulently changed ownership and took possession of a truck belonging to Beauty Wadzanayi Chigumba.
Efforts to recover her truck or receive payment for the truck imported through Plumtree Border Post last year are in vain.
Chigumba says she has lost hope and has nowhere to turn to.
While Rumbidzai is embroiled in the truck controversy, her sister, Chipo Mujuru Makoni, is at the centre of another storm in which she was involved in an accident that killed two people, including a baby.
Both cases are characterised by delays in police action and victims being left in the dark.
In the accident case, police claim all was done above board despite it being finalised under unclear circumstances well over a year after the case was reported.
Observers point out that there might be an element of abuse of office as the daughters are taking advantage of their mother's position.
Dr Mujuru has been criticised for alleged abuse of office and corruption in her business and dealings.
Prominent lawyer, Mr Terrence Hussein of Hussein Ranchord and partners says anywhere in the world the police have difficulty when dealing with powerful and influential people.
"Police should protect their integrity by following necessary procedures and processes quickly regardless of the outcome. But they must be seen to be following the procedures quickly, fairly and impartially.
"Delays make the public lose confidence. Influential people should not invite controversy by undermining the system. They should support it. In that way they are setting a very good example of themselves," said Mr Hussein.
Investigations by the ZBC News indicate that the case was reported at the Criminal Investigations Department Serious Fraud at Ahmed House in Harare in June this year under case number DR 54/06/14.
Contacted by the ZBC, Rumbidzai declined to comment.
Police are yet to provide an official comment over the matter.
