Zimbabwe Republic Police Deputy Commissioner General, Levy Sibanda says the continued participation of the country's police force in peace keeping missions is a reflection that the United Nations has faith in the organisation's policing standards.
Twenty police officers have returned from successful peace keeping missions in the Darfur region, Liberia and Sudan while 50 others will leave the country shortly for the Darfur region, a feature Deputy Commissioner General Sibanda says is a reflection of the forces professionalism which the UN has faith in.
Deputy Commissioner General Sibanda was speaking on behalf of the Commissioner General of Police, Augustine Chihuri during a police briefing and debriefing ceremony in the capital.
"The participation of ZRP in humanitarian affairs bears testimony that the force has well trained officers," Commissioner Sibanda said.
The returning police contingent of 20 officers shared their experiences during their year-long tour of duty in Liberia, Darfur and Sudan, which saw some of the police officers being appointed to top positions during the peace keeping mission.
