War veterans in Matabeleland South Province have called on Zanu-PF National Chairman,  Simon Khaya Moyo to relinquish his post as he has never publicly denounced factionalism.

This comes just a day before Zanu-PF's 6th congress that begins in Harare.

The war veterans' Provincial Spokesperson,  Never Ncube said failure by  Khaya Moyo to publicly denounce factionalism is a clear sign that he is aligned to Vice President Joice Mujuru's faction which stands accused of plotting a coup on President Robert Mugabe.

Ncube also accused the National Chairman of snubbing some of Dr Grace Mugabe's rallies, saying this shows that he is not behind the President and the First Lady, who was endorsed as the incoming Secretary for the Women's League.

If  Khaya Moyo, who is also doubling as the party's spokesperson after the suspension of  Rugare Gumbo, is indeed booted, he would became the latest heavyweight casualty of the current purging of undesirable elements in the party.

In Harare, the Acting Provincial Chairperson,  Christopher Chigumba has also been booted out just a day before the party's congress.

Harare Provincial Youth Chairperson,  Godwin Gomwe said  Chigumba has been booted out for fanning factionalism and working in collaboration with coup plotters fingered for attempting to assassinate President Mugabe.

The province's Political Commissar,  Shadreck Mashayamombe told reporters that  Chigumba will be replaced by  Goodwills Masimirembwa, a decision which was arrived at unanimously.

Factionalism has rocked the revolutionary party, with the other faction standing accused of plotting the toppling of President Mugabe.

Vice President Mujuru, who leads a faction believed to be behind a coup plot, has already fallen out of grace, together with the likes of Nicholas Goche, Dzikamai Mavhaire, Lazarus Dokora, Ray Kaukonde and Rugare Gumbo, among a host of party officials.
