Mahofa collapses

Zanu PF Women's League national secretary Shuvai Mahofa yesterday collapsed after spending two hours singing and dancing together with other top party officials while waiting for First Lady Grace Mugabe to show up at the party's congress venue in Harare.

Mahofa later told party members that she had succumbed to the sweltering heat inside the tents.

Grace was initially scheduled to inspect the venue at 1:30 pm but only arrived two hours later.

Dr Mugabe toured the venue of the 6th National People's Congress in Harare this Tuesday afternoon.

The tour was conducted late afternoon by members of the Organising Committee led by the Zanu PF National Chairman, Simon Khaya Moyo and other officials and ministers involved in the preparations for the congress.

After being briefed on the facilities and services that are being offered on the site, Dr Mugabe's first port of call was the wing housing the various offices of the party hierarchy.

The entourage then proceeded to the huge conference hall which will cater for the 12500 delegates attending the congress.

Representatives of regional sister parties that stood with Zimbabwe during the struggle for independence are expected at the congress.
