'I will stay as long as my brains allow,' says Mugabe

President Robert Mugabe says he will remain in the country's top position for as long as his brains and physic allow him.
Addressing thousands of delegates at the closure of the 6th ZANU PF congress in Harare on Saturday evening, Mugabe made it clear that he is not immediately considering resigning from the position he has been occupying for four decades. At 90, going to the congress a lot of people expected the ageing president to at least announce an expected retirement date than express no intention of retiring anytime soon.
However, on two occasions in the last week President Mugabe has made serious blunders that point in the direction that his brain is now tired and can no longer go on at the country's highest office. On Tuesday while addressing members of the security forces and war veterans at the ZANU PF head office in Harare, Mugabe had an unexpected slip of the tongue and said opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai had garnered 73% of the votes in the 2008 elections. As if that was not enough, four days later, President Mugabe chanted a slogan "Pasi NeZANU PF" (away with ZANU PF) at the party's 6th congress in Harare a serious taboo in the ZANU PF sectors.
Several other allegations of mishaps pointing towards Mugabe's advanced age have been exposed by sectors of the media. Images of President Mugabe dossing off at some very crucial conferences and meetings have been flighted in media in recent years. On a number of occasions President Mugabe has been seen walking with the aid of the first lady Grace Mugabe or even missing a step and falling or nearly falling as a sign of advanced age. Some media reports have also claimed that President Mugabe has on some occasions soiled himself while sitting down another sign of advanced age.
The ZANU PF congress yesterday unanimously endorsed President Mugabe as its sole candidate for the 2018 Presidential elections despite the fact that he will be 94 and a half years old by August 2018. As of today, President Mugabe is already top of the list of the World's oldest leaders and if he makes it to 2018 he will by far the oldest leader in the world.
